Why does everyone talk about wanting President Obama to extend any part of the Bush tax cuts? Just about everything Bush turned his hand to was bad for the country, including those job-busting, budget-busting tax cuts. So why would the Democrats want to extend any part of his legacy?
The Bush tax cuts should be allowed to simply expire at the end of the year. Period.
Instead, President Obama and the Democrats should enact a new set of tax cuts, the Obama Middle-Class Tax Cuts, to begin as the Bush tax cuts sunset.
Congressman Alan Grayson in his own inimitable style shows how to frame the tax cuts issue against the nonsense being peddled by the Beltway media: the choice is President Obama's tax cuts for the middle class, or the Bush tax cuts for the rich.
This money could go to hard-working middle-class families who need it to make ends meet in ways that will create demand for everyday goods and services, i.e. JOBS, or it can go to the uber-wealthy who will use it to wallow uselessly in consumption of luxury goods.
If Democrats don't pick up on this framing they're fools.
Love the part about the 800 cigars!
