I'm indescribably proud to have been a part of the Scott McAdams team here in Alaska. At the polls, we didn't win tonight.
But hope remains.
I am truly exhausted.
For the past weeks and months, our team has been at the grinding stone. We fought as hard as we could. We worked as long as we could. We fought the best fight I have ever known, and we came up short.
As I told my co-workers today, I could not be more proud to have worked for Scott McAdams. I could not be more grateful to the wonderful men and women who broke their backs for progressive values in this campaign. We could not have worked harder to win, and we ran a campaign that all young Democrats would die to be a part of: a campaign based on principle, on honesty, on friendship, and on passion.
Tonight, we won. But not at the ballot box.
It was a bad night tonight for the Democratic Party, across the nation. I'm not visionary enough to even pretend to diagnose the particular reasons for our setback, though I do have my own ideas.
We must never surrender our hope.
I know that I'll need some time to stew, to analyze, to re-focus. As will we all. Tonight has been a let down for our cause of progress.
I am extremely thankful to be a part of this community. I will always be here. From the bottom of my heart, and from Scott McAdams and our great team: Thank you for the support, love, and kindness you have shown us.
It's time to begin again.
