I've got to say something. There is so much bottled up inside me right now. I am feeling very sad for my state, Pennsylvania. I am feeling so grateful for all the campaign volunteers who tirelessly worked for their candidates, our candidates, against losing odds. I'm angry at the forces that snatched away our supposedly 60 vote lock in the Senate and the countries first female Speaker of the House.
And, I'm very very very sad that we lost Russ Feingold, Alan Grayson, Tom Perriello and others.
So, to deal with this, I have to have a new project, something new to think about. I considered counting the hours until Conan O'Brien's new show debuts. But that would be superficial and unproductive.
I have decided that ...
Russ Feingold needs to run for the House of Representatives in Wisconsin 7th district.
Yes.
We need Russ and he fits the House a lot better than the Senate anyway.
He works for his constituents, not the corporations. He has dozens of townhalls every year in Wisconsin.
The 7th District, located in the north of Wisconsin is made for Russ.
It's currently held by Republican Sean Duffy at the moment.
This is a Congressman who won with only 52% of the vote so it's ripe for the taking.
Add to that the fact that this was a strong district for Russ. Outside the districts that are already held by Democrats, this was Russ's main stronghold where he won three counties.
Honestly, I don't know much about Wisconsin, although I lived there for six years back in the 80's. I just had to say something positive and start looking to the future. I'm sure there will be a lot of diaries like this today. This is just one of them.
And, thank you so much to the volunteers who worked for Russ in this midterm disaster (strike that) election.
