500 votes between Connolly and Fimian in the 11th VA.
I am sort of breathing a sigh of relief, looks like we will keep our congressional seat, Connolly, VA 11, (versus Fimian)-a 500 vote margin, reinforcing the every vote counts rule. I live in a very red district (Fountainhead, Silverbrook) so I brace myself to vote every year. This year I was "greeted" by someone in a huge elephant suit (I am hoping not a young person whose brain had been taken over by its elephant host) and a cadre of young republicans, probably there for service hours, but thats no excuse. The helmet headed housewife with the teflon smile was there too (I had my encounter with her last year too). I realized that it has become toxic and intimidating to vote there. I dread it and this year I had to walk through a myriad of obstacles to vote. The republicans are so full of themselves-they are bad winners and bad losers, they are just bad. They just don't get it. The wildly oddly slightly medicated smiling housewife spewed to me: "you are full of hate." Yes I am. I remember years ago it was just a civil disagreement among adults. No longer. As republicans seek to take away the rights of others (right to chose, right to vote, right to marry, right to serve in the military, right to free speech) they limit my ability to be respectful of them. I am not, nor do I encourage others to be. I have no respect for republicans and anyone who would deny access to healthcare (for children and anyone else) does not deserve civil discussion or respect, this is WAR, and I have said this before, damn the cultural relativism, this is pure evil that we are fighting. It is no less for the right to life, liberty....OK, enough of the soap box, but I wish helmet head would get it, you can't engage in name calling, dirty tricks, false paradigms and expect me to make nice with you.
