OK, we got our asses handed to us, and like every pundit, I'd like to call in my post-mortem.
Last night, the biggest loser, aside from the American people was... RAHM EMANUEL. Yes, that's right. The bastard who brought us the Blue Dogs in the first place lost them last night. The primary indicator of whether a Democrat won or lost last night was whether he was a Blue Dog. We lost some heros, sure, because they drew so much private money to defeat them, but you take out Grayson and Feingold and just knowing whether someone was a Blue Dog or not, your odds were pretty good that if you were a Blue Dog, you were gone, and if you weren't, you weren't.
So, to put this in perspective, Rahm, the guys you sold your soul to bring to the House, they're gone now. Yes, Rahm, this one's for you.
JUMP!
The guy who wouldn't cater to the FUCKING RETARDS who make up the base lost to the Republicans who catered to the FUCKING MORANS who make up theirs.
Hey Rahm, you called me a neophyte to my face, you said you were a professional and I was not, but any FUCKING IDIOT can tell you that mid-terms are about turn-out, and turn-out depends on YOUR FUCKING BASE, whom you hold in such open and public disdain.
And, while we're at it, you didn't like Howard Dean. You made that open, public, and clear, and you kicked him and his policies to the curb. So, Howard Dean was abandoned -- no, kicked to the curb -- the 50 state strategy was abandoned -- no, kicked to the curb. So, the 60 seats or so that Howard Dean delivered in '06 and '08 matched the numbers you lost for us last night, almost exactly.
So....
Would we have lost last night had Howard Dean been head of the DNC? The world will never know. But, at least you would have had a proud liberal on every talk show week after week touting accomplishments. At least you would have had a proud liberal with his feet on the ground in every state, organizing, pumping up the grassroots, knocking on doors, making phone calls, organizing, organizing, organizing. We wouldn't have taken two years off to, I don't know, scratch our asses.
There was an enthusiasm gap in 2008, and, Rahm, I put it on you that we lost it so quickly. I'm going to put this in BIG FUCKING LETTERS THAN ANY RETARD CAN READ:
YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO BEAT THE REPUBLICANS IN A MONEY RACE, so YOU NEED TO BEAT THEM WITH BOOTS ON THE GROUND, and that means
NOT THROWING GAYS UNDER THE BUS
NOT THROWING ENVIRONMENTALISTS UNDER THE BUS
NOT THROWING ECONOMIC POPULISTS UNDER THE BUS
and, really,
NOT THROWING YOUR FUCKING RETARDS ***BASE*** UNDER THE BUS.
Not if you want to win elections. Clearly you didn't. Perhaps the best thing to come out of 2010 is YOU LEAVING THE WHITE HOUSE.
Maybe someone will have the brains to realize that you need Howard Dean, and the grassroots he brings, and the base that he rallies, more than ever.
