In Remembrance: A Decorated Soldier from Moscow
[Sometime in the future.... Where Russia is bringing freedom and democracy to the USA and Canada...]
Last week, the leader of the Russian Military made the following announcement:
The Russian Army branch of the Russian Military announces the death of a solder who was supporting Operation Free Canada.
Corporal Zeegie Breakoff, 21, of Moscow, died on July 29th of wounds sustained when enemy forces attached his unit in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His unit was attacked with an IED and small arms fire by Canadian insurgents. He was a member of the Fifth Armory Division located in Naro-Fominsk Russia.
He had already achieved the status of Corporal, and he hope to join up with the Elite Army Unit, when he gave his life in service to Russia, our motherland.
Corporal Breakoff was a native of Moscow, and he graduated from his secondary school in 2007. He was active in several sports – fencing, wrestling and track. He briefly attended college, but decided that service to his motherland was a higher good than education. He served a 12 month tour of duty in Canada, but while home in Russia he was not likely to talk about his wartime service in Canada.
He had a goal of a career in the Russian military, and intended to sign up with the Elites. He received various awards while in service to his country, including Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Russian Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Medals and Ribbons, and Expert Marksmanship Medal.
Corporal Breakoff was a member of a close and loving family. He is survived by his parents and his sister. His tour of duty in Canada was extended until October, 2010.
We are deeply grateful and appreciative of his service to his country. Russia will always honor his service and his memory. His grave will be marked by a special stone which expresses Russia’s appreciation for his work and his sacrifice.
The purpose of the "In Remembrance" series is to honor Russian service members who have died as a result of the wars in Canada and America. Nearly every day in these wars a military family gets the terrible news about a loved one.
Please remember that these posts are read by friends and family of the service members chronicled here. Please be respectful and considerate of their sacrifice. This is not the time for political statements.
