Alabama legislature in "special session" is taking on ethics reform. Of course this is the first time the GOP has ever had control in Montgomery so they are "making hay while the sun shines" so to speak. One of their so called ethics bills is directly aimed at taking away the AEA's pac automatic deductions and I/we here in alabama need some help.
Does any of our kosacks have legal or banking knowledge about payroll deductions? First question is how much does it cost to the state to allow multiple deductions. They say they will still be able to pay union dues but not to do the automatic payroll deductions to political actions committees at the governments expense. If I knew how much it costs the state to do this i could call bullshit on them but i have no clue. One would believe that it would be negligible since they already are deducting money going other places what is one more?
Second is this a violation of their civil rights or first amendment rights? If citizens united gave corporations the right to funnel tons of money to the gop then why are pennies on the dollar through payroll deduction not allowed?
Please help Kossacks and much thanks in advance.
