Huaxi a model for collectivism?
Or a totalitarian hell?
Each villager has at least
A car, a house, and $250,000 in the bank
The former party secretary Wu Renba of Huaxi insisted "property was kept under collective ownership"
This raises some intesting questions
The entitlements per adult
A free car
Free health care and education
Free cooking oil
And a house.
All given by the village committee
So this is low wage China?
Is this the modern face of communism, the shape of things to come?
Whatever your thoughts about the political system, it just goes to show when people work together and share just how much wealth can be made.
You have to give up your wish to have more than anyone else and to work for the common good, is that so odious?
It is however a little like the Hotel California
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!
If you leave you leave behind your wealth, then again if there was a network of such villages moving would not be such a problem.
There are many things I find unacceptable or strange coming from a 'free' country. Then again I ask myself if we are really free in a capitalist country where wealth is horded by a few?
Perhaps there is a middle road between the two?
5 days work instead of seven?
Most small business owners I know work until we drop.
You could regard the village as many small business owners working together.
Perhaps our 'freedom' is an illusion?
When you look at the number of people we have out of work, in prison, and the number of children in poverty it is time to consider other possibilities.
It is time we thought outside the box and discussed the society we have created openly.
If Huaxi can find a way forward; surly we can?
If China uses this model throughout their country, then in a few years time we will be looking on in amazement and probably a good deal of jealousy.
Now what are we going to do about this?
Continue funneling of our collective wealth to the top 0.1%?
Can we change?
Do we want to?
Is Huaxi just a gilded prison?
The again, you have to ask yourself "are we really free in our system"?
This opens up a whole barrel load of questions and possible solutions.
Or
Just ignore it as a commie plot to take away your freedoms.
Discuss.
