Before the votes were even tallied on the 2010 elections, the right wing had publically stated their intentions for the remaining two years of the Obama presidency. 1.) Continue to obstruct any legislation that would become a "win" for Obama. 2.) To make certain that Obama was a one-term president. 3.) Impeachment.
The problem with impeachment was that Obama had not committed an impeachable offense...until now.
It has been recently disclosed that the Obama administration, for whatever reason, had assisted in blocking criminal charges from Spain against the Bush war criminals. Today, even though an extradition treaty has been in place with the country of Nigeria since 1931, the Obama people have decided to ignore the request of the Nigerian government to turn Dick Cheney over to them to face charges for war crimes. In doing so, the President has made invalid the Oath of Office he took to uphold the Constitution of The United States.
This, in and of itself, is, IMHO, an impeachable offense. The irony here is that President Obama has hand delivered his own impeachment proceeding to the right wing by PROTECTING ONE OF THEIR OWN. How quaint!
History has ample facts on which to judge the reasons as to why the great nation of The United States failed, similar to that of the Roman Empire. Each president will be evalued, whether they be good or bad. President Obama, with this lapse of judgement, should be grouped with Dubya under the "Not So Smart" category.
UPDATE #1: I'm not the best author going, but this was intended as snark.
Please re-read this paragraph:

Whereas it is impeachable, and as of yet the only impeachable thing the president has done, NO WAY are the wingnuts going to jump on this. Actually, if they try to impeach on another issue, the defense could use this case as an example and ask "Why not the Cheney issue?"
UPDATE #2: It saddens me that although however comical the actual offense the President committed, this site seems to find it "OK" that the President's actions are permissable. Yes, they won't proscute him. That's really not the issue here. Stealing a candy bar won't land you in jail, but it still is breaking the law. The same situation applies here.
I can imagine the uproar if Bush did it.
