Here we go again, increasing the profits of oil companies while the Republicans are in charge of the House of Representatives.
My local news reported last night that we could be seeing $5.00 per gallon of gas soon. They are currently running around $3.20 in my home town. That is up from $2.80 as of November 1, 2010. That's a %16 percent increase just since Republicans won the House on November 2nd.
more after bump
Why does winning the House have anything to do with oil prices? The House is the only place that can begin investigations on gas gouging or oil manipulations. With Republicans in charge, no investigations will take place, just as it was during the 8 years of the previous Bush administration.
The price of gasoline has stayed at or below $2.80 since President Obama and Democrats won in November of 2008.
The so called experts will tell you it's the seasonal increase or market adjustments that making the priced increase now. Well folks, why didn't the prices increase last year this time? Why didn't they go up last summer when they normally do or during 2009's spring, summer or fall? I'll tell you why, because the House was under Democratic Party control. Oil companies didn't dare raise prices.
All during the George W. Bush years in office prices increased from around $1.25 to $2.80 in just 8 years. In between those years they jumped all the way up to $4 and in some places $5 . Do you realize it took nearly 45 years for prices to get up to about $1.25 per gallon?
Americans should start demanding immediate investigations into why the oil prices have just now after 2 years started to increase with great speed. Don't wait till the prices get up to $5 per gallon to complain, do it now or regret waiting.
I'll give you a few cents extra because of the economy but at this rate and with predictions of $5 a gallon, Americans had best start demanding answers and soon.
