My mouth nearly hit the floor when I read this on Politico's "Whiteboard."
Obama acknowledged that Republicans want the tax cuts for the rich to be permanent, and that he has "argued that we can’t afford it right now," a line that his audience applauded.
But he continued, "We've got to make sure that we’re coming up with a solution, even if it’s not 100 percent of what I want or what the Republicans want."
Republicans ARE getting 100% of what they wanted in this "tax deal." Why Obama and the Democratic leadership is allowing the "Blue Dogs" to dictate policy in DC today is ridiculous. The Blue Dogs were routed in the last election while progressives fared much better. Most of the Blue Dogs remaining in Washington will either become Republicans or very likely not return to DC after the next election cycle.
I am starting to believe that President Obama is in fact a Blue Dog with some progressive tendencies. There is little chance that this man will get my vote again if he doesn't begin to show me a lot more when it comes to dealing with the Republicans and actually leading the Democratic party.
If the Democratic party stalls it is the President's fault. The President is the leader of the party. More and more I'm starting to accept the Republicans meme that he is too inexperienced and not ready to LEAD. Someone within the party must make the hard choice of telling some in our caucus to heel or leave. If Ben Nelson, Joe Lieberman and the other DINOs will not allow votes then they should be told to leave. Heck it's easier if we can ask the American people for more Dems than to explain why we can't get anything accomplished with 60.
EIGHT thoroughly immersed individuals are greater than EIGHTY lukewarm enthusiasts and the Repubs are proving this to be TRUE.
Andrew Young took a lot of heat during the primary when he made this comment:
"I want Barack Obama to be president," Young said, pausing for effect, "in 2016."
"It's not a matter of being inexperienced. It's a matter of being young," Young said. "There's a certain level of maturity ... you've got to learn to take a certain amount of (expletive)."
Young went on to say that Obama needs a protective network that he currently lacks — a quality that could hurt him if he were to be elected. He said Hillary Clinton already has that kind of network, including her husband to back her up.
"There are more black people that Bill and Hillary lean on," Young said. "You cannot be president alone. ... To put a brother in there by himself is to set him up for crucifixion. His time will come and the world will be ready for a visionary leadership."
I'm just saying..........
