We are now approaching primary season. Filing deadlines are upon us, consultants are being hired, strategies are being mapped. In Republican primaries, candidates are trying to figure out how to appeal to the most conservative voters in the party. Those are the ones who will come out to vote and they are the ones who will volunteer. Those who want to win a competitive Republican primary may well want to have a visit or and endorsement from Sarah Palin or someone associated with teabaggers.
"Oh, she is so down to earth." "She is not afraid to tell it like it is." "She knows exactly how I feel."
You now hear this from the GOP candidates and other opinion leaders. They say it, D-Bro believes it. They all say she is so impressive and will cut such an impressive figure in the 2012 Presidential elections.
All of this is going to change. As soon as primary season is over and we start to get into the general elections, no one in the Republican Party will remember how to spell her name.
Right now she is a tool to win credibility with wingers. When that is no longer necessary, she will be off the radar screen. She has been smart to get her contract with Fox while she still has something, but by August, no one will be very interested in what she has to say. She polls just fine in the GOP, but not with the general election.
Not to worry. We don't have much more of Sarah Palin to endure.
