I am like many Daily Kos advocates and other democrats in our country. We voted for the POTUS and many senators/representatives to get rid of an administration that never did anything for anybody other than the very wealthy. The rest of us were without representation. So what has happened?
We met our goal by electing a huge majority in the Congress and a POTUS who campaigned on change. Our reward has been as followed:
No National Healthcare plan in place
Iraq still under our wing and a large increase in troop levels in Afghanistan
Gitmo still open
Continuation of DADT
Bailouts for Wall Street but nothing for Main Street
Unemployment of millions at unacceptable levels
No sanctions of USA corporations who outsource jobs to Asia
No enforcement of trade agreements rules to level the playing field
An Administration who cannot deliver a consistent message
A POTUS who talks the talk, but does not walk the walk
Lack of a consistent message on reinstating sanity to banking regulations
The list grows daily.
So how did this happen. I believe we have a Senate majority leader who has no spine; a POTUS who thinks bipartisianship is more important than solving problems by using the Congress majority he was provided. I can only conclude that we have no leadership from either indiviual.
I believe that we Democrats need to start our own grassroot group to get someone in the Senate and White House to start governing instead of kissing GOP butts and trying to get funds for re-election.
We should be outraged and mad as hell that we see nothing but BS about needing 60 votes in the Senate and the so-called Blue Dogs in the house blocking any real change. Hiding behind Senate rules is unacceptable.
I believe strongly in a government that is ruled by majority rule; instead it is obvious that we are becoming a country that is ruled by corporate interests.
It is time that we send a message to our so-called leaders, either lead or get out of the way. We need to make it clear there will not be any monetary support or votes for any of them for re-election if they cannot figure out how to govern.
