Recently, last Saturday as a matter of fact, I went on Politico.com and used my personal picture as an identifier. I drew the attention of someone who went by the name of Dr. Tesla and we had a rather involved discussion. In retrospect, the argument wound up having nothing whatsoever to do with any relevant issue. In fact, the debate, quickly degenerated into him calling me names and me trying my best to re direct his input and throw him off guard.
A dangerous thing to do, using my real picture and all, perhaps, but maybe not. Especially when we stop to consider how avoidance of so called "dangerous things one could do" are avoided like the proverbial plague by many Dems in the House and Senate, who had a majority at the beginning of 2009 and a year later have a "lot" of excuses.
Yeah, I can hear you guys. "Who is this holier than thou so and so and what does he think he's tryin' to pull?" I've asked that question a lot. I haven't come up with a really good answer and frankly, I probably should just grin and bear it all and go to work, like the rest of America who still has a job to go to.
Well, first of all, it was totally unplanned. I went on Politco.com not really looking for Dr. Tesla. I had just spent the last couple hours of my shift driving cab for that day, listening to Elder Levi Yuille's Joshua' Trail on WAAM here in Ann Arbor. Incidentally, its a very popular radio show. Anyway, Elder Yuille was going on about how the current Administration is complicit in the homosexual corruption of our schools and I just couldn't help but wonder: WTF? How come no one, not even our elected leaders can find the gumshoe to stand up to these guys and their phantasmagorical myth machine that faithfully generates a boatload of whacked out and inherently Un-American Ideas like Irritable Bowel Syndrome through a goose.
In fact, it was Dr. Tesla who found and subsequently jumped all over me at which point I decided to jump back. And you know something, it felt good, real good.
In spite of his frequent "black man this.." and "your black ass.." that I did not call him any names whatsoever. He wanted to go to a place I was more than willing to let him go to: I just sat back and watched as the number of "you black so and so's" became more and more frequent.
After wards I realized a couple of things. One, who is Elder Yuille kidding? I mean really. His steadfast allegiance to the Republican Party is based on what, a sense of their historical righteousness? Try Hysterical righteousness.
Secondly, these folks actually are enjoying rating shares that are through the roof. Maybe, its some sort of vicarious thrill people get from listening to the so called "bad boy" who has the balls to speak what they feel cannot be spoken in polite company, I don't know, but it is nonetheless, disturbing.
And lastly, I realized after some thought, what do I care about danger?
I'm single, African American and 48: none of which happened by accident. So I use my real picture on Politico and my race becomes more of an issue than the topic supposedly under discussion, I'm standing up for something I think albeit in a small mid-western sort of way.
I'm not saying that anyone should do what I have done and probably will do again and I know that "cajones" isn't necessarily a prerequisite for membership in the political intelligentsia of Washington D.C. but Oh My, what if more than a few Dems decided to grow a set?
That in and of itself would at least be interesting would it not?
