I ran across this article from the Indianapolis Star about how a subsidiary of Wellpoint is gouging its custumers in Indiana just like the more publicized highway robbery attempt in California.
I posted a link to the article in a thread here -- and a commenter responded noting that Evan Bayh's wife serves on the Board of Wellpoint.
Well...this made me put two and two together. Not only was Susan (and Evan) taking a lot of heat over her connection with Wellpoint -- but the company had come under increasing fire from the Obama administration.
Now -- we learn that Wellpoint was also jacking up premiums on its customers in Bayh's home state of Indiana. Could this have created the perfect storm? Was Bayh concerned that he had feet of clay -- and that his wife's connection to Wellpoint would become a big albatross around his neck?
Remember -- Bayh's decision seemed to come out of the blue. Could there be some damaging revelation waiting in the wings?
