Casa Brillig went for haircuts tonight. The last time we visited the hair stylist, we were prepping for our trip to Ethiopia. Yeah, it's been that long... K2 arrived home two months ago this Friday! We're not fancy salon people; no, a trip to SuperCuts seems to do it for us. This should be fun...
Unless K2 decides that under no circumstances is anyone touching a single strand of his beautiful, dark brown, curly, increasingly long hair. We decided the rest of Casa Brillig would demonstrate how easy it was. Mr. Brillig had his hair shorn short while K2 watched from K1's lap. There were giggles, smiles, happy sounds... until and unless anyone asked How about you? at which point the only sound he made was NO! I had my shaggy mane tamed into a stylish new 'do. Even K1 had her hair cut exactly as she wanted it, demonstrating that haircuts did NOT have to mean lots of length lost.
K2 wanted nothing of it. He's convinced he wants - and I quote - big hair. The image of my son with a 70's era Mod Squad afro haunts me, and I hope he'll snap out of it next time we go. But for now, he's got the only uncut hair in the house. I wonder if he's afraid of what it will feel like, or whether he's suffered from Bad Haircutitis.
Back in the Stone Age when I started my senior year of high school, perms were all the rage. Everyone got one, whether or not they (like me) had wavy hair to begin with. In retrospect I looked like a sheep, but at the time I loved it. Until...
We learned the hard way that our well water seemed to have iron in it. How did we learn this? My chemically-treated, fine blonde hair soaked it up, turning a loooovely shade of...
Orange.
It took months to get it out, a combination of washing with harsh shampoo and cutting my hair as often as I could stand it. School colors were red and black... needless to say it was NOT a pretty sight in my Flag Line or track uniforms.
So how about it, my fellow Kossacks? What Hair Horror stories to you have to share with us tonight? Bad cuts, colors gone wrong, or worse... Tell us, and be glad no photos are required :-).

I think a whole lot of you were off getting haircuts today, because the TC mailbox was rather sparse. Lack of quantity in no way diminishes quality, however!
From Angie in WA State:
This comment by SuperBowlXX in kos' DNC funds paid for anti-HCR Nelson ads. Because there's no better measurement to judge the current DNC Chairman against than the current Chair of the RNC.
And if the DNC guy comes up short against the RNC guy - then something is seriously wrong in the national Democratic Party leadership and it's thinking.
This comment by Gooserock in LaFeminista's Cut Everything Except. Because it's insane to keep spending money we don't have, on weapons we don't need, instead of on working with the global community to solve the problems that are fomenting and inciting terrorism across the world.
From brillig, your humble diarist:
Two from cskendrick's diary observing that sometimes, party affiliation isn't relevant for the news report: Snud posted a Youtube that (a) I'd somehow missed; and (b) reminded me why I'm so glad we haz a Senator Franken. Then AllanTBG reminded me that even when they do remember the affiliation, it's not always helpful.
Meteor Blades has this gem in Granny Doc's "Muslim faith should bar me from serving in Congress."
No trims on Top Mojo tonight, we left it uncut for your enjoyment! Thanks as always to cskendrick and sardonyx for the mojo-to-excel magic!
