A whip count spreadsheet, detailing which Democratic Senators have publicly committed to reconciliation as a procedure to pass health care reform, and detailing who would vote for inclusion of a public option in the reconciliation package, can be found in a Google Docs spreadsheet here. (I believe Chris Bowers, at Open Left, is maintaining this.)
But it's a little hard to figure out which Senators are still on the fence in either category, because the data is sorted by state.
Here's a derived table listing Senators who have not made any kind of statement first, then those who have indicated 'MAYBE'. (Their Public Option response is used as a secondary key in the same fashion.)
This should be useful because you can see at a glance those Senators whom it is critically important to contact. If your Senator is on this list and on the fence, it's time to ratchet up the pressure with emails and come Monday morning with calls. And for good measure, let Harry Reid know what you think too! (If you can't get through on a phone call, try Senators' local offices, phone numbers for which you can find on their Senate websites usually under 'Contact Me'.)
Before the Health Care Summit, and the organized effort to make 1,000,000 phone calls (which has a cool make where you can see how many people have signed up by state) kicks in, it would be awesome to have a majority on record for reconciliation (and even more awesome to have a majority on record for the public option, but that seems a lot less likely).
Right now, we have 34 definites and 5 maybes for reconciliation, and 20 definites and nine maybes for the public option. According to the very last line of this Wall Street Journal article, there may well be at least 50 votes for reconciliation:
Senate leadership aides estimate they have slightly more than the 50 votes they need to pass a bill.
I'll believe it only when I see it: fifty public 'YES's in both columns...
Hell, if Ben Nelson will commit to reconciliation, why not every Democratic Senator?
