Here I was again watching that train wreck of a show know as Lou Dobbs' Moneyline (though the last time Dobbs discussed finance is not clear) and he had on the representatives of the "3 competing theories" of evolution, intelligent design and creationism (snark intended). When they became 3 competing theories only Lou Dobbs knows.
And it was the typical stupid crap. No need to rehash that. But what struck me was this idea of polling as to what should be taught in science class. Dobbs had his stupid poll, but I've seen polling from Gallup and others on this question and I just have to ask - when did we decide science could be put to a vote?
Here's my question, because I have not followed this Kansas Monkey Trial very closely, have you found that the coverage of the issue has focused on public views on the subject, or the science? Is this just one more story whose coverage is driven by poll results? And if so, is this not crazy? Sure, sure, just another "he said, she said" example of the incompetence of the Media, but I don't recall that this had been applied to science beyond the global warming issue.
Take the poll.
