I got a call last night at home from an automated Rasmussen survey. Since it was election night, I figured I'd participate and give Rasmussen my opinion for whatever it's worth. I was shocked and disappointed when the questions stayed on one very unimportant topic.
The first question was "are you a Democrat or Republican?", etc. I think the second question was "Do you plan to watch the Super Bowl. Follow me over the jump for more.
After answering Democrat, and Yes (to watching the Super Bowl) to the first two questions. I think they also asked me the "right direction/wrong direction" question too. (I said right direction.) But then, I was surprised at how the questions continued.
Every single question after that (at least 10 of them before I hung up), was about the Super Bowl. WTF?!?
Who do you think will win the game? Who do you hope wins the game? Will you bet money on the game? Will you watch the halftime show? Which interests you more; the game or the commercials?
This went on and on until I finally hung up in disgust.
I'll throw out a weird conspiracy theory and I'm interested in what the community thinks. Conspiracy theory alert.
Most of us here on the big orange know that Rasmussen is a "Republican-leaning polling company". It seems as though their polls are skewed and the Republicans use Rasmussen polls as a weapon.
They ask if I'm a Democratic voter as the first question. Do you think if I answered Republican I might have gotten a political survey instead of the "puff poll" about the SB? They can now use me in their polling results and say that they are polling Democrats and Republicans, even though I was asked crap questions.
It seems odd that I got these Super Bowl questions on a big Election night here in Chi-town, less than an hour after the polls closed.
