There was a great deal said about the mercifully small tsunami's for Hawaii. And the almost nonexistent one for Japan. Rush, however took the cake today. You just know if the pill popping blowhard could get anything about science right...but, noooo.
From Media Matters
Rush then put on his anti-science hat, claiming that he knew "it was bogus" that Saturday's Chilean earthquake could have caused a tsunami in Hawaii. He claimed it was a "teachable moment" about how manipulative the scientific community is. Though he acknowledged that the alert and evacuations could have saved lives if there had been a tsunami, he seemingly decided it was not worth the panic created by the announcement.
I remember listening to this and thinking "What a tool." Wondering what his numbers are in Hawaii and if any Hawaiian dittoheads would ignore a tsunami warning the next time one was issued.
I hope not, because the "bogus" tsunami from the Chilean quake? It did kill people.
From Msnbc.com
CONSTITUCION, Chile - A public gym has been transformed into a makeshift morgue here after a surging tsunami devastated this picturesque Chilean coastal town, leaving hundreds of people missing and a fishing boat in the middle of a public square.
As many as 350 people are believed to have to have died in Constitucion alone.
A quick note to Rush... satellites will not detect tsunamis, cruise ships and other ocean-going vessels may not detect them. Tsunamis are not like the wave in "A Perfect Storm"...until they make landfall.
Please...if you are in a tsunami prone area and a warning is issued...if you are a dittohead please ignore the rotund one and follow emergency preparedness plans
