For those who aren’t familiar with the name "Elliot Anderson", you may be more familiar with fellow Daily Kos community member (and great guy) DemMarineVet - someone who has put his time, money and reputation where his mouth is by running for Nevada State Assembly.
Of course, he already has more than proven himself as a Marine combat veteran, serving in Afghanistan and Nevada State Captain for VoteVets.org, and now Elliot is looking to take his progressive views to the Nevada Assembly.
Elliot’s campaign site is here if you want to take a look at his stances and bio, or more importantly, to help one of our own out.
Personally, I first met Elliot back at Netroots Nation in Chicago and we spent a lot of time talking about where the netroots has come, where it can go and what we can all do to help further the progressive cause. We have stayed in touch since then, and when he told me that he was running for Assembly, I had 2 questions for him: (1) What can I do to help you, and (2) where can I send you a donation?
And in the few short months since his announcement, he has racked up endorsements from Democracy For America as well as from VoteVets, a group that knows firsthand just how good of a candidate Elliot is. But it isn’t just about endorsements, as Elliot has been out every day walking the district (3 hours each day in the hot Nevada sun!) getting to talk to the folks in his district and talk about his campaign.
There is a campaign goal - a very modest goal of $10,000 in Netroots donations – and part of the goal is to raise exposure and visibility (lawn signs, etc.). Quite frankly, isn’t this what we are all about here in the netroots – helping each other help the progressive cause?. So what do you say – check out Elliot’s campaign site, volunteer to help and (of course), any donations are greatly appreciated (PLEASE ADD $0.01 so the campaign knows it is a "netroots donation"!!!).
And they will go to help a great progressive; a great American and great guy help change this country for the better.
