So the House debated the Afghanistan war Wednesday, most of the liberal blogosphere didn't seem to notice. That can be forgiven, after all, there were much more important things to be worried about like who Eric Massa groped, and when.
However, for those who missed it, Dennis Kucinich, the do nothing, non sane, purity troll, congressman from Ohio introduced legislation that would have brought all troops in Afghanistan home by the end of 2010, single handedly forcing the first debate on the House floor about the US led occupation since it began.
NPR tells it
Ohio Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich, one of the more liberal members of Congress, brought up a resolution Wednesday to pull US troops out of Afghanistan by the end of this year at the latest. Although the measure failed after a 65-356 vote, lawmakers on all sides agree on one thing: Wednesday's debate itself was important for the Congress to have.
Kucinich said he wrote this bill because he wants Congress to take responsibility for the war in Afghanistan. He said it should "claim responsibility for the troop casualties, which are now close to 1,000; to claim responsibility for the cost, which is approaching $250 billion and, together with the Iraq war, close to $1 trillion." Kucinich said Congress must also take responsibility for the great cost at home: the money spent on the war that hasn't gone to job creation, housing and public works projects.
What a freakin' kook this guy is, introducing a bill and forcing actual debate on war policy? Who the hell does this purity troll think he is? Not to worry though, like most off his insane, off the wall, progressive, legislative efforts it was sent packing and easily defeated in a 65-356 vote.
I'm sorry, but the guy is just insane...
This is the same dude that voted against the Patriot Act, the Iraq war, Telecom Immunity, the Military Comissions act, and oh... he had the nerve to introduce articles of Impeachment against Dick Cheney of all people.
Kos was right, this guy HAS to go!
