Here at Kos I am constantly amazed at the bubble in which the left has encase itself by listening too much to Rachel and Ed and putting far to much stock in Research 2000 polling data that says Obama still has a favorable rating of over 50%.
But the left wing bubble is not as severe as the right. Where we have Rachel and Ed, they have dozens of noise makers. And where we have MSNBC they have FAUX and then just about everyone else with a slight conservative tilt.
I have slapped together a display of 3 polling questions at my website using the "embed" feature at pollster.com. For each question (HCR, OBAMA APPROVAL, and GENERIC CONGRESSIONAL) I present the average polling data across 13 polls including Rasmussen as compared to 12 polls omitting Rasmussen. See it here.
As you can see, however, the Research 2000 poll is not included in the polls tabulated at pollster.com
Nor is it in the mix at realclearpolitics.com. But in both cases Rasmussen in in there big as Dallas.
So what's the skinny on this. Why are we looking at a poll that nobody else is looking at? And why do the major poll of polls people love Rasmussen so much?
What matters, of course, is the public sentiment on health care and the national congressional ballot. Obama isn't running. The Congress is. And the change in the opinion of the public concerning HCR over the last month has been dramatic and favorable. This is, IMHO, the issue that will decide the midterm elections. No HCR, no Democrats. Obama will be fine.
