While wading through the slime over at Redstate, I found a disturbing piece written by some one named E Pluribus Unum, entitled "If you try the Slaughter Rule, you will lose the country. Not in November. In March." Being the morbidly curious type, I went ahead and read the article. If you have a strong stomach go ahead a read the whole thing. I was able to ignore most of the lame RW crap-ola, having seen most of it before. But what struck me as ominous was found further down the screed.
Towards the bottom of the article Mr. Unum makes six predictions he says will occur if HCR is passed. In order of appearence they are;
" 1. The Supreme Court will strike it down within days.
- Numerous states will declare statutorily under the 10th Amendment that this law will be unenforceable within their borders.
- There will be public anti-government outrage so great that it will boil into violence.
- (Even more) new candidates opposing incumbent Democrats will come out of the woodwork.
- State AGs will bring charges against sitting Congressmen for whatever they can plausibly pin on them.
- Republicans will shut down business in Congress until January 5."
Under each of these predictions he wrote a short paragraph of explination/expansion. I will draw your attention to just two of them, numbers 2 and 3.
"2. Numerous states will declare statutorily under the 10th Amendment that this law will be unenforceable within their borders.
I’m guessing 20 states. The move has been afoot for awhile anyway, and this blatant flouting of the Constitution will trigger the America-loving, freedom-loving instincts into bold (if rash) action. And while they’re at it, they’re going to say the same thing about everything emanating from the EPA."
"3. There will be public anti-government outrage so great that it will boil into violence.
I do not condone this; it will be ugly and more than a little scary. Lest I give anybody fresh ideas, I will not expound upon it other than to say it will be directed, not generalized — directed at objects, property, and symbols of government, not at people. Although those who voted for this Slaughter Rule would be wise to perhaps hang around in Washington for awhile."
(Italics are mine)
What really strikes me here is the writer is practicaly salivating at the possiblity of out right violence, and underneath I sense the wish for the start of the hoped for armed right-wing revolution by someone(s)"America-loving, freedom-loving instincts".
While the writer covers his butt with the obligitory disclaimer of, "I do not condone this......" he goes on in the very same paragragh to warn certain legislators to "hang around in Washington for awhile" if they don't want to get ...what? ....killed?
This "diary" has been on the Redstate rec list for 2 days, with a whole bunch of hearty "you betchas".
To a sane person, the odds of any of this coming true would seem close to zero, (except for number 6). But with the Redstate founder now on CNN, and the right getting ever more desperate over HCR, I wonder if this isn't as far from a possible reality as I definately want it to be.
