In light of so many threats of violence, and acts of domestic terrorism against our nation from the zealous right, I say Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder is going to have to grow a pair as humongous as the size of the ones my hero had.
To me, it seems like whenever our government officials behave badly and are outrageously rude to each other, some Americans are willing to follow the example those leaders set.
Remember the '90's when Bill Clinton was president?
The republicans consistently showed little or no respect to, and for, President Bill Clinton.
And, before you right-wing fanatics get started on that same old tired excuse that Bush was treated just as bad...
SHUT!
THE!
FUCK!
UP!
Even though democrats didn't agree with the policies of G.W. Bush, the democratic leadership was never as disrespectful, or as hateful, to President Bush as republican leaders have been to President Obama.
From the first day of Bill Clinton’s presidency, republican leaders were openly disdainful and crudely dismissive of, not only Bill Clinton, but his wife Hillary, as well.
From there, the constant harping and public tormenting of the Clintons by the republicans only escalated from there.
Granted, President Bill Clinton did most of the heavy lifting for the republicans by feeding his voracious need to be adored, powerful men have been known to dally with fetching, young maidens ever since God said, "Let there be light!" Of course, the republicans made sure they left nothing to chance, or to the imagination, in their efforts to destroy He Who Must Be Impeached.
Gee. Only recently, have the alleged mistresses of Tiger Woods and news outlets been able to top the salacious, ponderous and pornographic details Ken Starr allowed during his investigation of President Bill Clinton.
Around that time, up popped very angry people like Timothy McVeigh and Randy Weaver, who were so distrustful of government, and so treasonous, they waged their own war, or built their own militia against the United States.
Now, the republicans are back at it again, and the Department of Homeland Security’s report, in April of 2009 on "right-wing extremists" posing a national security threat has come to fruition.
The "My way, or the highway" right-wing republican party are, once again, dividing this country with even more hateful and insidious rhetoric than they employed in the ‘90’s against the Clinton administration, and against the Clinton’s themselves, that is beginning to yield the same scary, twisted and deadly results.
Domestic terrorists like James W. Von Brunn, Scott Roeder, Joseph Andrew Stack, or the Teabaggers have all decided they’ll show us how it’s going to go down if they can’t have their way. If the rest of America won’t listen to them, they’ll just act out like some members of Congress do when they don’t get their way.
Albeit, we haven’t had a member of Congress decide to kill as many people as possible by flying a plane into a building.
But, some of our political leaders did not, and have not, strongly condemned the actions of those who have resorted to violence for no good reason, whatever that reason a deranged person feels is their motivation, or justification for murdering innocent people.
I have never witnessed such an obscene and vulgar disregard for years of protocol, decorum and respect before, when a member of Congress publicly called the President of the United States a liar during a State of the Union speech in front of congress, in front of the American people, and in front of the world.
No wonder virulent right-wing protestors against Health Care Reform, and against President Obama, believe it’s perfectly okay to spit on someone, or scream out racial and homophobic slurs at a Democratic members of Congress, when our political figures like Randy Neugebauer, exemplify leadership by accusing one of his peers of being a, "Baby killer!". Neugebauer later claimed he said, "It’s a baby killer!" and that he was referring to the Health Care Bill and not to anyone in particular.
Yeah, right!
Anyhow, we all know there’s nobody better at marching in lock-step by following orders and parroting the behavior, or talking points of their leaders than the rabid, mean-spirited right-wingers.
But, if our elected officials are publicly throwing temper tantrums, or are treating colleagues despicably in public, breaking the laws of the land, lying, bullying, stealing, cheating, threatening bodily harm against someone, or if they are acting as though it does not matter if the whole of humanity is not cared for, why should private citizens feel they have to be better, do better, or behave any better than the example our leaders set?
Well, apparently some on the right, and those who are abjectly opposed to anything President Obama or the Democrats are trying to do, don’t just want to be a part of a movement, they want to be the star of the show by resorting to acts of violence.
That’s why Eric Holder’s grapefruits are going to have to be made out of brass, just like the 78th Attorney General of the United States had.
My hero, former AG, Janet Reno.
Whether you approved of her methods or not, Ms. Reno didn't eat shit, and had the cajones to go up against and after kooks and fanatics.
When it came to handling and resolving such complicated and dangerous situations like Elian Gonzalez, Timothy McVeigh, Randy Weaver, The Unabomber, Eric Rudolph, Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman, David Koresh and The Branch Davidians, just to name a few of Attorney General Janet Reno’s accomplishments, Janet Reno grabbed her package, like Michael Jackson, and the world heard her roar.
The Lunatic Fringe will only foam at the mouth even more since HCR passed, and their bullish behavior needs to be stopped in their feverish tracks right now by someone with the testicular fortitude to do so.
Hopefully, Attorney General Eric Holder will channel Janet Reno, by signaling to Americans that we’re not going to let home grown, extremely mutinous radicals keep terrorizing law-abiding citizens just because they’re pissed no one would listen to their sob story, or because their life sucks.
I can see Ms. Reno saying to all the violent wingers out there while grabbing her "Lightsaber", "Suck on THIS!"
My hero!
Come to think of it, strong women like Janet Reno, Ann Richards, Barbara Jordan, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi, have all set great examples the American people can follow, and they all make me so very, very proud to be a fire-breathing liberal.
