As an ex-pat Canuck in California, a US resident, but hanging on to Canadian citizenship until Jesus returns to establish the Kingdom of Heaven, or the end of medical practices for dividends, I hereby declare, as an alien in your midst, that you might just care to see the view in the mirror.
Let's say the neighbours mirror over the fireplace also captures what's going on in YOUR backyard.
Normally the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's ( CBC ) national news is delivered by Peter Mansbridge. Not last night. Peter was being wooed by NBC years ago to counter Jennings at ABC, but the reigning Canadian anchor surrendered his seat to keep Mansbridge on CBC.
(Hmmm. Imagine 9/11 with Jennings on ABC and Mansbridge on NBC. It nearly happened.)
Share your neighbours view for a few moments?

When loaded up... do what you wish, but this diary addresses 6:30 thru 12:00, HCR, East Jerusalem, Passport fraud, Coultergeist in Canada.
"The National" is the name of Canada's CBC newscast. It plays in primetime suggesting that news is of equal significance to hot housewives of this county or that.
As mentioned above, its regular host is Peter Mansbridge. But this episode is not altered by his absence. For pure narcissitic intrigue you may well enjoy seeing how one of your northern neighbour's ( yup, neighbor with a "u" ) saw today.
I encourage viewing the whole the newscast, but that is asking a lot in a busy world.
At 6:25 you can see a Canadian view of HCR in the USA which is surprisingly unsnide given that dropping children with cancer from their "insured" right to healthcare would be the equivalent of treason in Canada, were it conceivable. Luckily it is not.
I doubt very much that any American TV network provided the images of American subservience to Israel that the CBC observed and documented.
At 7:30, and beyond, Neil McDonald reports on AIPAC, Clinton, Ramat Shlomo, East Jerusalem and the proverbial whole nine yards. You may find it uncomfortable. I am not sure. It's like PBS/NPR being fearless.
I had the privilege of attending a few annual "CBC world correspondents" nights, usually held on the turf on the University of Toronto. The local chapter of pro-Israeli media watchdogs came out in force to confront Neil McDonald and his "blatantly anti-Israel" slant. The local pro-Arab media watchdogs were on hand to either defend McDonald or denounce his pro-Israel slant.
Given that insight..enjoy his commentary and selected clips of your one and only Nancy Pelosi reaching out to take the hand of the one and surely tanned hand of Boehner to swoon about the privilege of breathing Netanyahu's exhaled air. It's too demeaning of a self-described super-power to bear. It's nice to be polite and friendly to a visiting head of government. This however is grovelling.
The "on the scene" reporting from Ramat Shlomo is an essay on the banality of the things about which this planet awards lethal danger status. We all ought not to die over this. A nice boundary line would do nicely.
The report contains the truth. Decades of delay and stalling on peace deals, whoever is to blame, somehow failing to draw boundaries happens to serve the interests of expansionists in Israel's political spectrum. And, so it goes.
This is followed at 10:30 by a report on Britain's reaction to passport fraud by Israel, even though the official story is that the makers of fake passports are unknown. Maggie Thatcher took Israel to the woodshed decades ago. It "will not happen again". Today the government of Britain recklessly acted as though we could assume that Israel did it again.
You will enjoy the near pornography of Ann Coulter's Canadian tour.
God damn whatever campus organizations issued invitations. God damn the two bit university flack who decided to give the Coultergeist "rules on being polite in Canada". ( Canada has free speech, and any academic who "warns" a visitor otherwise is a moron.) The Coultergiest is free to be measured by the content of her character in Canada.
Trust Canadians to measure her character with near unanimity without some idiot academic suggesting she "cool it". Coulter's heat is her game and some dolt gave her fuel.
For the record, from the 6 minute 30 second mark until the 12 minute mark, any American would be a tad intrigued by what the northside neighbo(u)r is noticing about your house.
Some at this website have been emboldened since the " East Jerusalem housing announcement" ruse was used again to derail talks. There is something powerful and sad about stats and soundbites that make a monkey out of American sovereignty in the eyes of its actual best friend and ally.
For Canada, your largest trading partner and largest source of imported energy, your NATO and NORAD ally, your measuring stick of your own intentions.... you would not dip, bow, swoon, and reach out to the likes of Boehner to group hug Netanyahu. What's that about?
UPDATE:
The aforementioned and controversial Neil McDonald added this assessement of cocky Canadian moral superiority notions in Canada. I commented on this 'pre-Olympics'. The rising younger generation of Canadians will happily and with no regard to irony, employ borrowed American methods to assert cultural and moral superiority. It's an interesting take on Canada's legendary bashful sidekick status.
It is largely based on the perceived ugliness of "medical care as a profit making opportunity" mindset of America.

This added bit of video is intriguing.
