MSNBC just reported that they had received an email which stated 'Democrats have guns too.' I was sort of waiting for that and wondering in what tenor the statement would be made.
It is rather assumed that Democrats and lefties don't have any guns. Growing up w/a Republican father, we had no guns in the house. I married into a family of hunters with a strong labor background so we always had rifles. My son entered public safety as he entered adulthood, so we also had handguns in the house ... Me, I always enjoyed traditional bow and arrow target shooting.
So why is it that the right seems to feel this need to parade their guns and toys, to directly tie their individual personage to their right to bear arms?
My husband's family always had a little giggle at his expense when they went off to their blinds. He would take a book of poetry w/him to pass the time, maybe that's why he read a lot more poetry than we ate deer. Thankfully, hunters are generous folk and we always were gifted with a few choice cuts. I never liked guns, when we were living in a less-than-stable area, I kept my bow next to the bed, figuring that the sight of a woman crazy enough to show up w/a bow and arrow would scare the crap out of anyone with thoughts of harming my children or myself. Plus, I was pretty good.
So come on folks, let's not start a 'mine is bigger than yours" shouting match with these guys, none of that really matters. What matters is we need to live together, we need to rebuild this country and to do that, we have to work together.
Peace, brothers and sisters.
