It is temporary but it is a GREAT HELP as my unemployment checks are ending next week....a 99 weeker. I have been trying to find employment and have found temporary employment here and there. This is temporary too but I am SO EXCITED about this one...working for the U.S. 2010 Census.
I was given up hope, honesty. Maybe I have been a little picky. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, prior worked in the telecommunications area for years making a decent salary and needed a certain income (much smaller, I could live with...but at least livable) to pay the bills.
Just when I was about to take a job offer, making 11.00 an hour, P/T as a last resort, I got a call today. One year and a half ago, I took a test for the U.S. Census Jobs that have been advertised in various places. I scored a 95% and hoped that the phone would ring.
Working for the Federal Government (especially under President Obama) would be a honor and a privilege, no matter how temporary the job would be. I just hoped for a decent wage, so I could make some possible in-roads with my work ethics, to land a possible permanent job, with the Federal Government.
Time passed..temporary jobs later (which were decent to pay the bills) with a reduced unemployment checks...I still wondered if the Census would ever call me before the end of the "lifeline", came.
Next week was the end and I knew it. Worry again, was beginning to settle in. I have been surviving but now....I did not know so much.
Today, I got the call. I start on April 5th with a decent salary, helping our nation, the Federal Government and indirectly Our President, count an accurate Census for 2010. When I asked if there was a possibly for more work after this assignment end, the lady noted...it is very possible.
Thank you President Obama....you made my life more manageable, today!
