While Crazy Pete Hoekstra was getting his skivvies bunched up preoccupied over whether brown-skinned Muslim accused terrorists should be tried in civilian or military courts or just plain hung from the yardarms, some white-skinned home-grown Christians were organized in what looks like a three-state terror plot.
Will Crazy Pete condemn these folks the way he and his fellow wingnuts condemn the brown-skinned terror suspects? Follow me and let's find out.
Well, as of 11:57 PDT, going to http://www.google.com, selecting the "News" tab, and typing "hoekstra hutaree" in the search field turns up -- nothing. Zippo. Goose egg.
However, while Crazy Pete may be unusually silent right now, his fellow travelers in the wingnutosphere are doing what they usually do when white American conservative males get busted for planning crazy-assed violent stuff: They make excuses for them.
Stuff like this:
Hey, is the administration taking after Christian militias to get in good with CAIR and the neo-communist left?
Because of course, you know, white conservative males can never ever ever be terrorists -- only those icky brown-skinned Muslim types.
One commenter over at NRO was so over the top even the NRO folks apparently couldn't stomach him and yanked his comment.
And I just checked again: As of 12:11 PDT, still no comment from Pete Hoekstra in Google News. I did, however, find this from former (?) militia leader Mike Vanderboegh:
This could have been one hell of a lot worse than it was. Today we avoided the beginning of a civil war. I do not know how long we will be able to do that in the future, given Fed cowboy clumsiness, but the fact that we were the ones who did not take counsel of our fears — and who "put away childish things" and did not overreact — bodes well at least for ensuring that we don’t lose the moral high ground when the Feds, finally, in frustration at our refusal to submit to their diktats, open fire on us.
After that, it will be an open source insurgency using Fourth Generation Warfare.
And we WILL win.
But of course, he's not a terrorist or even a terrorist sympathizer, right? Right?
UPDATE: By the way, Crazy Pete, who is not seeking re-election this year so he can run for governor of Michigan instead, falsely claims he'd be better able to stop an international (as opposed to domestic?) terrorist attack than current Democratic governor Jennifer Granholm, when the reality is that governors can't do jack about international attacks -- those are the purview of the Feds.
