I'll ignore the fervor surrounding the possibility of a Sarah Palin and Co reality show. The Queen of All Media (as long as they agree to be favorable to Sarah)is now reportedly under contract for a 2nd book.
According to the media reports:
The book will also feature "selections from classic and contemporary readings" that have inspired the former Republican vice presidential nominee.
Which leads to the obvious question- How many selections from the Family Circus cartoons posted on her fridge can Palin quote without running into copyright issues?
Our celebrity-obsessed merging of politics and entertainment is not good. For either arena. The addition of another vapid, ghost-written book with Palin's face on the cover is continuing proof of that. It does nothing to advance politics to have teabaggers read about the pretend "national and spiritual values" that have moved Caribou Barbi to serve her country by quitting office for the bright lights and big bucks of New York TV studios and publishing houses. And I can't imagine anyone beyond a sad tiny minority will actually find reading the book she didn't write to be entertaining.
Celebrity politics stinks. But so long as TV pundits pick our candidates and dtermine what is "important", this will continue unabated. And Sarah Palin will not go away until her looks fade enough for some other nice looking woman to take her place.
So I ask you- What classic and contemporary readings do you think Palin will say have inspired her to be a 1/2 term governor?
