So the Republicans are strutting their stuff here of late. They're reading the polls and listening to the pundits as they all declare a total wipe out for the Dems this November.
Well I'm not sure what's gonna happen in November considering that it's only March and an awful lot can happen between now and then. The Republicans have become very brazen and are now touting that they will campaign on repealing Health Care Reform if it's passed and signed into law.
GOP to Campaign on Repealing HCR
I'm just a tad bit confused as to why the Republicans are fighting this reform so hard since they think that the American public is going to reject it and will punish the Democrats with every conceivable loss this fall. Or is it just all a big ole smoke screen because they know that the American public will not want the reforms that are going to take place immediately in 2010 taken away from them once they know the immediate benefits of these reforms.
You would think that if the Repubs really believed their own hype that Health Care Reform will be the failure that they proclaim then they would just let us pass it and take our lumps.
So I D-Double dare the Republicans to run this summer on repealing this reform.
Here is the list of some of the reforms that the President mentioned on Monday in PA that will take place immediately in 2010.
- Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance.
- Insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions.
- Insurance companies will be banned from dropping your coverage when you get sick.
- They will no longer be able to arbitrarily and massively hike your premiums.
- All new insurance plans will be required to offer free preventive care to their customers which would include free check ups.
- No more lifetime restrictive annual limits on the amount of care that you can receive from your insurance company.
- Young adults can stay on parents’ policies until 26 years old
- New independent appeals process for anyone who feels that they were unfairly denied a claim by their insurance company.
So Republicans I say go for it. Run on repealing my ability to change jobs because I happen to have high blood pressure. Run on repealing my cousin’s ability to let her college age daughter stay on her health care plan alleviating her worry that her girl will get sick while not having any health coverage. Run on appealing the ability of my neighbor to fight her insurance company for dropping her coverage because her husband got sick.
Go ahead and make my day and hand us Dems the 2010 Midterm elections on a silver platter. I Dare You!
