Congressman, you are my hero. I will be making a call to your office shortly to thank you for taking a stand against this oppressive bill being forced on the House of Representatives. Stand strong for those of us who think that not only could this bill be better, but that it is actually worse for the majority of the American people. People who don't qualify for Medicare, Medicaid, subsidies, etc.
I believe in the free market system. I believe in the principle of supply and demand. As a consumer and as an American citizen, I have the right to decide which products I will or will not purchase. I have no demand for what the health insurance industry is currently supplying. Recently I shopped around for Healtchare policies for my child and was appalled at the choices that were presented to me. That's why I chose the public option that was available to children in my state (fabulous by the way). Under this bill, I would not have that choice. I will never purchase an individual policy from an insurance company now.
This brings up the second point. The penalty that will be enforced on American consumers who choose to not purchase these policies will be the biggest tax increase on the middle class in a century. My source is the www.taxfoundation.org for anyone that wants to check it out. This penalty is a tax since it will be collected by the IRS. Spin it anyway you like. It's not fooling me, and I will vote against anyone that forces this tax on me.
Don't give me that argument about people receiving health care that weren't able to get it before. For nearly a trillion dollars more of our money, they should receive it without burdening the other people who are being forced to bankroll it. Just expand Medicare or Medicaid. It's too bad that health care is seen as a commodity instead of a necessity.
I wish Dennis Kucinich was our president instead of Barack Obama. Please run in 2012 Dennis. I am thoroughly disappointed in the one that we have now and I voted for him. Don't give me that line about how he was obstructed by the Congress because it is just not true. He chose to make deals with the pharmaceutical industry and with the for-profit hospital industry before debate even got underway. He managed to be the obstructionist when it came to Single-Payer or the Public Option. Wake up!!! Stop being such good little victims. Push for something better and let Dennis Kucinich be an example to us all.
