Even if you believed what you said -- that America would not strike back if 100 million people are biologically attacked, with nuclear arms if necessary -- even if you believe that, why would you broadcast that to the world and to terrorists? Mr. Gingrich, you have sent an open invitation to anyone interested in harming us that we will not respond in kind? What were you thinking?
The truth is that the TREATY BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ON MEASURES FOR THE FURTHER REDUCTION AND LIMITATION OF STRATEGIC OFFENSIVE ARMS and PROTOCOL TO THE TREATY BETWEEN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ON MEASURES FOR THE FURTHER REDUCTION AND LIMITATION OF STRATEGIC OFFENSIVE ARMS does not say anything like what you are proposing and instead Defense Chief, Robert Gates has said "Given the catastrophic potential of biological weapons and the rapid pace of biotechnology development, the United States reserves the right to make any adjustment to this policy that may be warranted by the evolution and proliferation of biological weapons."
So, Mr. Gingrich, you either
a) DO NOT know what you are talking about, and if you don't know, then you have absolutely no business being on tv as a security expert. The Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) is a legally binding treaty that outlaws biological arms. Period.
b) DO know what you are talking about and lied for pure political points. If you are placing political ambitions above national security, then you are dangerous to the state. Russia will not take you at your word (they know what is binding in the treaty). Terrorists certainly will not heed warnings from you because they know you lie.
c) DID know our policy, but believe that the Administration, our military and our diplomatic core are unable or incapable of fulfilling their national security responsibilities. You, therefore, do not trust the citizenry or our generals to carry out their reponsiblities under this treaty. (FYI. Retired Air Force Gen. Eugene Habiger, who served as the top U.S. combat commander for nuclear weapons from 1996 to 1998, termed an agreement curbing Russian and U.S. shorter-range nuclear arms "long overdue."
You weak and shallow man, with your feigned ignorance, or malignant reproach, you hack at the roots of our beloved country's honor.
UPDATE: Someone asked where this is coming from. Sorry! I wrongfully assumed most were already familiar with the Sean Hannity/Newt Gingrich interview, where they both said that we WOULD NOT respond to a biological attack that kills hundreds of millions of people -- with nuclear weapons if necessary.

UPDATE II: Given that over forty countries are meeting on this as we write, it is especially disgusting the treachery of Hannity and Gingrich to undermine the nation's integrity. The world is here to take us seriously and, instead of assisting in the construction of policy, there are those within who think of nothing but back-stabbing our country.
