When you would think that the right would give up their crazy conspiracy theories, wingnuts always find a way to amaze you. First the birthers with their quest on finding President Obama's "Long-form" BC, the deathers with their so-called death panels, now meet the "SOCCERISTS".
On saturday, President Barack Obama ditched the White House Press corps when he left the White House without taking the press pool with him. According to the Associated Press, President Barack Obama breached years of protocol on Saturday morning by leaving the White House without the press with him. As usual, the WH Press Corps whined about it, then WH Press Secretary Robert Gibbs apologized.
Later in the day, Obama was overheard joking about the reporters to other foreign leaders. In fact, appeared next to Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Obama said "apparently I caused quite a problem," adding something about his secretary not telling the Secret Service, according to, ironically enough, the pool report. "They were very upset about it," he continued "It was big news today."
President Obama left the presss behind to attend one of his daughter's soccer game. According to the White House, President Barack Obama left the White House at 9:20am to attend one of his daughter's soccer games in northwest Washington , before the pool of reporters had assembled at their regularly scheduled call time. White House officials assembled a small group of reporters to try to catch up with the president. The reporters gave chase at 9:43am, but were unsuccessful, and the president was back at the White House at 10:17am, after an apparently short game.
You would think that this non-story would die in the water. But that would mean underestimating the Right Wing. So they came up with a new conspiracy theory : "Obama never went to a soccer game...but to a secret location".
The American Thinker posted an "article" showing that Obama "attended to a non-existent soccer game":
Seems simple enough. But the story has several problems. The first one is a biggie in that there were no scheduled soccer games for Sidwell Friends April 10, as evidenced here. The second is that the area reported that the game was played at appears to be one of high crime, as documented here and here. [Update: reliable reports from DC residents indicates the area is not high crime - ed.] Additionally, this is a picture of the field via Google Maps, where Obama went to watch the game.

What's more concerning is that no one can confirm if the Secret Service even accompanied Obama on his adventure. Furthermore, let's look at the elapsed time. If the president left the White House at 9:20AM as reported, according to Mapquest, it takes about sixteen minutes to get from the White House to 40th and Chesapeake NW, bringing his arrival time to the field at 9:36AM or so. But then he would have had to leave the field at the latest at 10:00AM to return to the White House at the documented time of 10:17AM. So he spent about twenty minutes at the game? When did the game end? That time is vague as well.
Yeah ! like the President Of The United States won't be accompanied by the Secret Services. What those wackos are smoking ????
Rush Limbaugh seems to suggest that Obama may have a "Clinton Moment" and wonders if "Michelle was aware" about Obama's "secret gateway".
The story is so ridiculous that ABC's White House Correspondant Jake Tapper set the record straight via his twitter page :
Don't know genesis of latest insane conspiracy theory, but yes: many ppl saw POTUS at daughter's soccer game at ft reno park soccer field
Sidwell won 2-1, btw. That's what happened on planet earth, at any rate.
@Miz_Eisenhower he went to his daughter's soccer game.
