The lede, an hour or so ago, from Jane Lorber's blog Green in the New York Times:
Several thousand people gathered Sunday on the National Mall in Washington to observe the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and to urge Congress to pass climate and energy legislation.
What if they gave a climate rally and Fox didn't cover it?
Maybe Fox gave it wall to wall and I don't realize it (my TV converter box is sick). I do know this: It started at 10 a.m. My Daylight Time and at 4 p.m., a search of Google News using the terms "climate" and "rally" brought up four related articles, only one of which was actual coverage and not a preview. One story was from the Energy Collective, which is livestreaming it.
Compare this to the hysteria and crush of satellite trucks engendered by the tea party raves the last couple of weeks. It's not like there wasn't good footage to be had:
Major stars were set to perform, including Sting, John Legend, the Roots and Jimmy Cliff, as well as some newer figures like Passion Pit and Joss Stone.
Some environmental campaigners came dressed as melting polar bears. Others embraced a 1970 theme, wearing tie-dyed shirts or arriving shirtless and shoeless.
The crowd looks fairly huge, but sadly no one is shouting TYRANNY!
You'd have thought the tree-hugging socialist media would have been all over this. Maybe they'll show up for the last couple of hours. Maybe since Earth Day was just Thursday, they figure it's been covered. One day a year is enough for Mother Earth.
