RKBA is a DKos group of second amendment supporters who also have progressive and liberal values. We don't think that being a liberal means one has to be anti-gun. Some of us are extreme in our second amendment views (no licensing, no restrictions on small arms) and some of us are more moderate (licensing, restrictions on small arms.) Moderate or extreme, we hold one common belief: more gun control equals lost elections. We don't want a repeat of 1994. We are an inclusive group: if you see the Second Amendment as safeguarding our right to keep and bear arms individually, then come join us in our conversation. If you are against the right to keep and bear arms, come join our conversation. We look forward to seeing you, as long as you engage in a civil discussion. RKBA stands for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Tom Seaview has some interesting news:
As surprising as this is – to this liberal RKBA poster, anyway – the NRA might be on the right side in an election for once:
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal...
The NRA has sent mailers to IN voters blasting ex-Sen. Dan Coats (R), the NRSC's favored candidate in the race to replace retiring Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN), according to filings made over the weekend with the FEC.
It seems that then-Representative Coats voted for two hated (and ineffective) anti-gun bills during the Clinton administration. The NRA now opposes him in the Republican Senate primary.
But wait, it gets better:
...some GOPers are worried about what the NRA will do in Nov., especially if Coats, as expected, clinches the GOP nomination. The postcard notes Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D) has a "perfect" pro-gun record, and the NRA backed Ellsworth during his '08 campaign.
Apparently, the NRA does not oppose only Democrats. (They loathe Michael Bloomberg, too... and so do I).
1911s has some weird shoes.
I get more comments and questions about my shoes (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/) than about my not-quite-concealed pistol when out and about. "Why do you wear them" - not "why do you carry that". People observe and question the unusual, and a gun on your hip is completely normal here. Kinda like wearing mittens on your feet is for some reason considered normal most everywhere. Just sayin'
OMwordTHRUdaFOG's contribution for today:
Undercover cop removes more than 150 illegal guns from Brooklyn's streets in 'Operation Phoenix'
A brave undercover cop single-handedly took more than 150 illegal guns off Brooklyn's streets in a risky year long probe that also busted a brigade of dealers.
---------------
During "Operation Phoenix," the lone officer, who cannot be identified for safety reasons, broke up a virtual pipeline of arms into Brooklyn - buying 153 weapons in 105 transactions at an average cost of $900 each.
-------------------------------
The majority of seized weapons were reported stolen from the same places, states known as "hot spots" for illicit guns, including Virginia, Pennsylvania and North and South Carolina.
This confirms my suspicions, that most Illegal guns are stolen guns- (not GUN SHOW guns)
PS
I love my safe 'almost' as much as I love my Guns.....
TAX DEDUCTIONS for SAFE purchases ????
And in closing, TG's Food for Thought:
There are those who say we will be safest if we remove the most effective means of self-defense from the people.
Am I the only one who finds that to be a questionable proposition?
