As you already have heard Oklahoma and Florida republican-majority statehouses have created mandates that force women to buy additional medical procedures or be denied access to legal and approved medical care. I guess in the bizarre world of republican-think their mandates are constitutional while mandates coming from Democrats are an unconstitutional violation of the 10th Amendment.
Oklahoma and Florida now mandate women to undergo and pay for vaginal ultrasounds as a condition to seeking access to other approved medical procedures. This requirement is nothing less than an unfunded mandate. The two states aren’t offering to pay for the procedure and you can bet that no doctor is offering vaginal ultrasounds for free.
So let’s review. Two states with Republican majorities have mandated patients buy additional and unnecessary medical procedures – and that’s okay with the conservatives in those states. Those same republicans and those in the rest of the country who gnash teeth, cry and slobber over how unconstitutional the new health insurance reform bill is, haven’t said nary a peep over the new treatment mandates created by those states designed to punish women.
Why does anyone take these hypocrites serious on any issue? Will the republican attorneys general that filed the lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the new health insurance reform bill now jump in and sue Oklahoma and Florida next? I know the answer already, they won’t. I’m sure they will pretend not to notice in hopes that no one else notices either.
Where are the tea baggers on this obvious big-government intrusion into other citizens’ private lives accompanied by a requirement to purchase additional treatments that patients don’t want or need? I’ll tell you where they are they are in duh-duh land. The Fox Nutwork has not told them to be outraged, so they aren’t.
