In the run up to the passage of the health care bill, several here on dKos were championing the bill, and there was great hysteria about 'we gotta get this passed.' And then after Obama signed it, we heard from several on here what a 'breakthrough' bill this was, an amazing advance for all Americans, including the uninsured. So, I'd like to ask the individuals on dKos who championed this bill to give us the facts at this point.
- Where can the uninsured go TODAY to sign up for the health care that they need?
- Where can I take my uninsured child TODAY, using the health care bill, for treatment?
- A newly established pharma 'help center' reports that about 15,000 inquires come in PER DAY from individuals who cannot afford their medications. How does the health care bill help these individuals TODAY---where do they go to sign up?
- The IRS will enforce the individual mandate---how will it do this, and what leeway does it have to: seize wages, bank accounts, deduct health care premiums from wages, etc.?
- Why is Congress and certain Congressional staff and the White House exempt from the provisions of this bill? Why is this bill's provisions not sufficient for those who wrote and voted for the bill?
I know that those of you who pushed the bill's approval will have all the answers to my questions, since I'm sure that anyone who pushed for the bill, knew its provisions and would never advocate such am important bill for purely political reasons.
Thanks!
