It's looking increasingly likely, due to circumstances mostly beyond my control, that I'm going to be leaving the country next year. Long story short, my partner is here from the UK on a limited visa and will have to leave when her time is up. The federal government does not recognize same sex relationships (not even state marriages) and she's not eligible for a green card, so the only choice is to leave together in order to stay together. (Insert plug for UAFA here) (Read more about me here)
Since my time left here in the USA is short, and it's unclear when I might be able to come back and settle here with my partner, I'm thinking about taking a month before I leave to see some stuff and go some places. If you had the time and the will, where in this great country would you go, if you could?
Places I've already been:
NYC
The Grand Canyon
Seattle, WA
Grand Tetons National park
Phoenix, AZ
San Diego, CA
Hollywood, CA
San Francisco, CA
Portland, OR
Rural Colorado
Rural Idaho
Salem, MA
Mystic, CT
Joshua Tree
Palm Springs
Disneyland
New Orleans, LA
Las Vegas, NV
Big Island, HI
Places I'm considering:
Glacier National Park (See it before it's gone, right?)
Yellowstone
Yosemite
Chicago, IL
Boston, MA
Austin, TX
Denver, CO
Places I don't really want to go unless you can convince me otherwise:
Washington, DC
Anyplace in Texas other than Austin.
Soooooo... ideas and recommendations? Please help me make the most of the time I have left :)
