I just read the diary about the stunt this bank pulled in Tennessee...
follow below the fold for another story about the depravity of this outfit
My wife and I are both retired and we rent a home with our divorced daughter and her two children. We decided to buy a home with her so she can have some permanence in her life (she's a full time teacher and the chance she can ever own a home are slim at best). I went through a hard working local lender and got pre approved for a set amount and started looking. We need a 4 bedroom place and on the coast they are hard to come by. Well, we got lucky and found a good deal this past week. Unfortunately someone elses misfortune helped us as the house was a Wells Fargo foreclosure. When our realtor made an offer they accepted but had several conditions. One, they wanted 3 times the normal earnest money with the contract. Two, they REFUSED to fix anything wrong with the house and Three, they wanted our lender to send our information to another lender to look over. After much back and forth between our lender and the other lender it turns out that Wells Fargo signed a deal with them. They force folks who want to buy their foreclosed properties to show their lender our data so they could try and steal us as clents. We finally told the other lender they could see our preapproval with no private data on the paperwork nor the amount its approved for. All they need to know is we can afford the house.
I found this morally reprehensible and i'm sure there is a hint of illegality in the stunt as well. These piggys have no ethics! This is not as bad as other stories about these clowns but it sure fits a pattern.
