Because no one reads up here: MacGruber is only better than Beverly Hills Cop, if you take Eddie Murphy and Beverly Hills Cop out of the equation.

Some Musings on Highway Travel
Friday, I’m due to go to Pittsburgh, so I thought it’d be appropriate to share a few thoughts about highway travel, and my experiences with it over the years.
I’ve always enjoyed travelling, and I’ve enjoyed doing so on the interstates. The longer the trip, the better, although I cap my driving limit at about 14-15 hours, because one can only travel so long without sleep; also, driving while nodding is NEVER a good idea (though I’ve done it a couple times).
Just the idea of open road driving is a relief for me. But there are some things I won’t do. Again.
I’m sure I’ve shared this tale before, so forgive me for using it again…if you remember it at all, but it was seven years ago this July when I took the most ridiculous road trip ever. It was a trip to pick someone up from Knoxville, Tennessee, bring her back to the Washington Metro Area, drive her back, and then drive home. No, I didn’t do this consecutively; I took days off from work to do this, literally racing south on the first day through I-81 in Virginia, getting to Knoxville in about the time it takes now to get to Charlotte, NC on cruise.
I get there, sleep; get back in the Chevy Cavalier with her, drive back to DC metro (getting stopped by VA state troopers just short of I-66); drop her off at around 4:00 am, then went home.
Next day, around noon, drove into D.C. picked her up someplace, drove out of rush-hour traffic, back to Knoxville, arrived at 1am. Woke up next morning, drove home without her, and got back at 10:30pm after driving through a horrible thunderstorm in the mountains west of D.C.
Like I said, I love the open road, yet I will never do that again. I know I put 1,500 miles on that old Cavalier in just that span alone. If I am ever to do that for another woman, she better be ten thousand times better than that one was. And comp a hotel room. Also, be my wife. Terms and conditions not negotiable.
My favorite thing to do: take different routes to the same places; I’ve done that plenty going to Charlotte; to Canton, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, as well as coming home from places. This way, in case of a highway shutdown—like what happened to I-40 at the NC/TN border, when it was closed for months through the winter because of rock slides—I know alternate routes to take without losing much time. This also works for shunpiking; the practice of driving around routes with tolls, like the New Jersey or Pennsylvania Turnpikes.
So, with all that said…who wants to go on a roadie?
Normally, in this space, I would post the upcoming show listing, followed by highlights. I just saw our source for those highlights just had his account suspended. Which means I might have to pull from CBS, but their clips fucking suck. No offense, CBS. Makes the highlights job tougher. So tonight, I protest by not posting any highlights. It's pot luck tonight, ladies and gents, until I find out how we're going to handle this going forward.
