You know I have been saying for many months now that WE are our worst enemies. We have progressives and Dems bitching and moaning that the president isn't doing enough, although no one knows what enough is.
James Carville says that Obama needs to step it up in regards to the Gulf oil spill that British Petroleum caused? What the Fuck does he want Obama to do?
Can someone please tell me what they expect the Federal government to do to stop this spill? Because as Anthony Weiner (D-NY) said this morning on Morning Joe, there isn't a Oil Spill Emergency Agency ready to roll out to the gulf and stop the spill. The facts are there is nothing that the federal government can do to stop the spill.
So what exactly does Carville want the President to do feign outrage on television everyday?
At least one expert says that there is nothing BP or the government can do to stop the leak...On Hardball today Mike Papantonio, the attorney suing BP on behalf of the families who lost loved ones on the Deepwater Horizon, says he has talked to people, experts who say there is absolutely nothing that BP or anyone else can do to stop this leak. He says the experts are saying (Matthew Simmons) that is comes down to simple physics. Until the pressure in the underwater oil field equals the pressure at 5000 ft the oil will continue to leak and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do.
If that is the case then the President needs to have a press conference as soon as possible and tell the American people that in light of this new information all deep water drilling will be banned in the US until technology exists to fix these types of issues (which in effect will ban all further offshore drilling in the US forever.
Now we have Chris Matthews on the Tonight show saying he's scared that Obama hasn't done enough in the Gulf and he too didn't explain what the President should be doing?
Shouldn't these guys be offering some advice along with their criticism. Or are they just bitching because there ain't much the president can do and the problem is getting worse?
Here's more Bitching and Moaning here and here.
Dan Froomkin goes all Gulf-Spill-is-Obama's-fault on MSNBC:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...
Froomkin is saying the government doesn't know how much oil is spilling, isn't tough enough on BP, and doesn't have its act together. But what can the federal government do, nothing?
Froomkin says there are scientists out there who have some idea of what to do but the government isn't talking to them? what? if they know something then they need to step up. BP has a hotline that scientists or anyone for that matter can call with ideas on how to stop it, here's the website.
And for the life of me can someone please tell me what the hell is the priority, knowing how much oil is spilling out of the leaks or stopping the damn leaks? Shouldn't all efforts be focused on stopping the leaks?
To me it seems that Mr. Froomkin is spreading the FireDogLake talking points that the President is not doing enough, however, out of the eleven points they say the President should do, NONE, NOT ONE IDEA on how to stop the damn leak, only Bitching and Moaning.
So I am asking progressives and Democrats to stop the bitching at the President and point the outrage at the Corporation that caused this mess. The federal Government had a role with authorizing the permits and regulating that the company had the wherewithal to safely operate the rig in a worst case scenario, btw which it fell flat, but that is certainly not this administrations fault.
What IS this administrations fault is the fact that they have not halted all offshore drilling permits and halted all offshore drilling until each company has a plan and equipment in place to cover what we now know is the real worst case scenario.
However, even after all this there is still nothing that anyone can do short of well, praying that someone can flippin' figure something, anything out and stop the damn leak.
