Chase Bank, through Chase Community Giving, is running a contest on Facebook for a $5 million (total) charity giveaway. Two-hundred charities will recieve money, and Facebook users are asked to choose up to 20 of their favorite charities.
Why is it that they have $5 million to give away to charity, but they continue to foreclose on homes after offering untenable workouts to struggling homeowners? That $5 million would go a long way to temporarily reduce mortgage payments, allow homeowners "interest only" options, and other real help. The kind of real help that doesn't involve a five figure balloon payment at the end of a few months' time?
Please help me!
If you have a facebook account, please visit the community giving page and search "foreclosure". There might be a charity in your own town that could use the support. I chose National Foreclusure Prevention. These are charities who offer to help homeowners by representing them and their legal rights with the lenders. They aren't the new pack of profiteers disguised as helpers, or at least they aren't working for profit.
Neon_Vincent and I voted and tweeted the links. Can you help us by doing the same? This is an opportunity to send Chase Bank a message.
How ironic that they should have to give to charities that will help their drowning customers. Well it makes for a good news story, don't you think?
One more thing! Do a cursory check on the charity you choose. For example, there is one called the "National Real Estate Investment Institute" that we aren't sure about. If you know about them, please post.
