For those of you who haven't been following the story, Joran Van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the Natalee Holloway murder has been arrested in Santiago, Chile. This time he is the prime suspect in the murder of 21 year old Stephany Flores Ramirez, who was last seen with Van der Sloot and was found stabbed to death in his room.
The murder actually took place in Lima, Peru, but Van der Sloot attempted to elude law enforcement by escaping to Chile. He was caught today by Interpol, and is being processed in Santiago. Hopefully he will be extradited quickly to Peru, so this creep can finally face justice.
I can't tell you how good it feels to know that he will be sitting in a Peruvian jail, most probably awaiting execution, and pining for an Aruban prison cell. He might have gotten away with murder once, but justice will hopefully be served at last. I'm sorry if my joy at the possibility of his execution offends anyone. Van der Sloot is the type of unrepentant thug which has kept me vacillating on the death penalty issue for my entire adult life.
In any case, it's good to know that the women of the world can breathe a little easier today.
