I know, shocking! Democrats in Brazoria! For those outside of Texas, Brazoria has long been a bastion of very conservative libertarian thought. I mean heck, it is the homeland of one Ron Paul, so that should set the tone. Lately though, change has been in the air as Texas moseys back on towards the left and citizens in Brazoria are no longer ridiculed for saying they are Democrats, and some are even brave enough to call themselves liberals!
The Brazoria County Democratic Party even opened up a headquarters last weekend, marking the first time in a very long time that there will be a permanent meeting place and command center for Democrats in Brazoria.
As Biden would say, "This is a big f%&king deal!" For as Brazoria goes, so goes Texas. We're like the canaries in the mine of crazy that is the Lone Star.
Though we don't have ponies in Brazoria, we ain't above a Donkey Party, our 2nd Annual Donkey Festival, mind you. This event is turning out to be an even better event than last year!
There will be BBQ, bake sale, a silent auction, and, most importantly, time with our Democratic candidates. Roster of candidates and directions below the fold.
Currently, some of the best in Texan leadership have confirmed as Brazoria County Democratic Party special guest:
Bill White (Democratic Nominee for Governor)
Robert Pruett (Democratic Nominee for US Congress, District 14)
Jim Sharp (Democratic Nominee for Supreme Court, Place 3)
Morris Overstreet (Democratic Nominee for Chief Justice, 1st Court Appeals)
Faye Gordon (Democratic Nominee for Judge, District Court 149)
Dora Bonner (Democratic Nominee for Judge, Family Court at Law, Place 3)
Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh (Brazoria County Commissioner, Precinct 4)
Ken Walters (Democratic Nominee for Justice of Peace, Precinct 2)

Be great to see some Ft. Bend and Harris County Democrats show up, and you will get to meet Bill White!
Not to mention Robert Pruett, who set to upset Ron Paul this November. I mean, we're serving BBQ, Brazorian BBQ! And pies made by country Grandmas, who doesn't love pie?
So come on down and join us for an afternoon liberally packed with fun, grassroots and the antics Brazoria has long been known to provide.
There ain't no party like a Donkey Party, especially in the land where Texas began!
