Good afternoon, I'm Forrest Brown, senior organizing fellow at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee.
Since we launched BP Makes Me Sick last Thursday with 35 Gulf partners, we have continued to gain momentum in our campaign to protect Gulf oil spill workers. More than 66,000 people have joined our coalition, and last friday Keith Olbermann featured our coalition on the air.
But to amp up the pressure on BP we need to reach 75,000 signers.

Our coalition is earning strong local and national media attention in addition to Keith Olbermann. Yesterday, Pulitzer Prize finalist Jerry Mitchell wrote in the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger:
A new website, BPmakesmesick.com, has emerged following a report alleging clean-up workers were threatened with being fired if they showed up with respirators.
"We were wanting to do something," said Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. "There's a general feeling of helplessness."
Mother Jones, the New York Times, the Baton Rouge Advocate, and dozens of others have also reported on the coalition. (Click hereto see more).
To keep up the momentum we started putting in calls to the White House and OSHA, and we're working hard inside the Hill to get more members of Congress on board.
While that's a big step in cracking down on the junk science companies like BP use to deny workers respirators, workers in the Gulf right now are being exposed to highly dangerous levels of toluene, ethyl-benzene and other chemicals. Will you stand up for workers and join our coalition? Click here.
If you've already joined, you can help us run online ads targeting BP and bringing others into this fight by chipping in $4 here.
Thanks for your strong support!
