Death in the Gulf.
Pics, videos are welcome. Same for examples of media coverage as propaganda.
BP and Halliburton committed ecocide. Dumping 200,000,000+ gallons of crude oil into the Gulf will be causing pollution events for 5 years.
Mitigation efforts onshore have hired the unemployed, but otherwise have produced minimal environmental effect.
"There was no oil on the beach on Grand Isle Louisiana when this video was shot, which means this disturbance occurred for no good reason."
The previous diary in this WineRev model series is HERE.

The damage is done.
Be nice if we didn't make things worse along the way. But that's very unlikely. Humans are amazingly destructive.
Relative to the vid posted above:
Angela at American Birding posts this:
Lights at night are an environmental threat to seabirds, which are attracted to lights and have been known to circle them until exhausted, at which point they are vulnerable to predation.
Honestly, everything BP is doing should be subject to a review of its potential impacts, but the way things are going, what a joke that is. One has to wonder if the bizarre things being observed are just a perception, or if things are really as fishy as they appear.
The media blackout and new 65-foot prohibition against reporters is INTOLERABLE.
What has happened in America? No matter what Obama says, either BP is in charge, or the government has acceded to their every wish. Either way, I'm pissed. If I thought the Republicans could do any better...but sadly, they are just anxious to get back to drilling so the giant corporations can make more money and fill politicians' pockets (both dems and repubs of course).

The worst of it for bad mitigation seems to be the dispersants. Treated oil reaches the surface, where wind tends to coagulate the spew and cause thick layers to form, where normally there would have been a sheen of oil but nothing like this:
The Santa Barbara disaster had a lot of oil on the beaches. It didn't look like this.
Dispersants and very cold temperatures a mile down did not make things better.
A couple million gallons of dispersants ???
Gotta be a $$$$$ to be made.

Here's the GOPers' answer. 250-pounds of lie:
Make it up =EQ= believe it.
Gov. Barbour is every bit as dumb as Jindal. They still think that putting sand out 50 feet from a beach is going to protect it.
Wind and waves laugh at them. Waves especially. Their sand bars are gone, first time there's a storm 500 miles away.
I'm hoping that the voters laugh at these dolts, too. Laugh at the joke of sending them both to the unemployment line.
