Wow, nothing like being shaken and stirred to get your Friday started off with a bang.
So three days ago I had a new mattress delivered to the house and with any foam mattress you are supposed to let it air out for a few days before you sleep on it. I was so happy last night to get a chance to lay my head down and try it out. It was great, just what the Doctor ordered. I fell asleep within a minute or two and was sleeping like a baby. Imagine my shock to be shaken awake by a decent earthquake. I live near a major industrial area in Baltimore City so at first I wasn't sure if it was some industrial accident, plane crash, or the real thing. The shaking lasted for a second or so after I woke up. That was scary and my mind was reeling. "Get to the doorframe," was all I could think of at first along with, "My glasses, where in the ... are my glasses?" I still haven't found them which is funny. I know I was wearing them when I walked into my bedroom last night.
This was at 5:05 and CNN confirmed it soon after. It was centered near Gaithersburg and was measured at 3.6. Did you feel it? Share your story here.
I know that this was not a damaging event but this will hopefully serve as a reminder to local residents that it can happen anywhere and that everyone should have an emergency plan just in case.
