Thousands of statewide contests around the country will be decided this next election. Whether you're seeking a seat on the local school board or a term as U.S. senator or congressman, running for office is a challenging endeavor. Being successful requires careful attention to detail, a rigorous schedule and a lot of volunteers who believe in you.
And Political Consultants....
Thomas "Tip" O'Neill—a longtime Speaker of the House in the U.S. Congress—once declared, "All politics is local." He was explaining how the problems and concerns of towns and cities around the country affect the actions of their representatives and senators in Washington, D.C.
To gain insight into those issues every President since Lyndon Johnson has run his Administration from a political consultant's eye view. Untold millions have been spent on polling and focus groups. Dick Morris even asked voters where Bill Clinton should go on vacation. The pressure to "win" the daily news cycle—to control the news—has overwhelmed the more reflective, statesmanlike aspects of the office.
It is not working anymore. It is time for a new political Strategy, n New Jeffersonian or Jacksonian era of political idealism. The permanent campaign being waged by Obama, with his constant travel to get the populous to agree with the Bill of the day, simply is not working for him, his approval ratings continue to drop.
Perhaps it is time to review what we do and how we do and devise a new strategy, the Obamaian Political era. What would it look like?
Common man based or corporate based?
Would we finally stop some of the lies and misleading information fed the American Public? What would be the basis for this new political ideology? Governing by the common man? Governance by Special interest?
Governance over either ALL industry or NO Industry? Would we be inclusive of all the people who live in the US legally or illegally, married or not, gay, straight, Trans, color of skin finally put to rest?
