On yesterday's Meet the Press, when asked about the "relative merits of Republican rule during the Bush years," Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) said that:
... we need to go back to the exact same agenda that is empowering the free enterprise system rather than diminish it.
And now the GOP is walking it back:
... an NRCC spokesman is now denying that Sessions said this, insisting that Dems are misrepresenting his remarks. NRCC spokesman Ken Spain emails over a statement saying that Sessions was in fact referring to a report by business chieftains criticizing Obama's policies as anti-business.
Fine. Let's accept that Sessions was criticizing Obama and not longing for the days of George W. Bush. So what "exact same agenda" he was referring to? The one that led to last year's financial meltdown?
Inquiring minds want to know.
